Isolates: When It Comes To Cannabinoids, "More" Does Not Equal "Better".
There is a common misconception in the hemp industry that more cannabinoids means “better”. It doesn’t. More cannabinoids means different, and we believe all options should be available to the consumer.
“Broad Spectrum” or “Full Spectrum” is a term often used for marketing, but tells us very little. Without knowing the specific details of that spectrum, people assume and trust that the products will be more effective. This is not always the case. Some of the cannabinoids are present in such negligible amounts that they serve no significant benefit - other than allowing the producer to label the product with those hot-button words. Like “all-natural” or “organic”, without seeing the testing breakdown as it relates to each particular product, the true benefits are extremely vague. Whole-plant extracts are also much less consistent by nature.
At Kine we use isolates to rebuild the spectrum to detailed and exacting specifications, and the natural oils in our flavored products add beneficial terpenes that are removed in the cannabinoid extraction process. The resulting products are highly effective and consistent, each with their own formulations and are designed in combinations to either maximize the entourage effect or single out a particular cannabinoid.
All cannabinoids may provide a host of benefits that vary from user to user, and only through some experimentation will you know what works best for you.
The first step is to understand the human body’s endocannabinoid system, and the potential benefits and differences of the various cannabinoids.
Next, consider what you are looking to achieve. Knowing where you want to go makes it a lot easier to get there. Check out this post in our Resource Library to learn more about the various cannabinoids.
With a bit of trial, you will be able to figure out what works best for you, and by using products with specific formulations you will be able to recreate those effects consistently. Rebuilding the spectrum with isolates provides the most accurate and effective means of achieving those results.
When in doubt, have a conversation with the producer and allow them to assist you in deciding the best place to start.
